Randonee at Bucks Summit

Joined Judy And George for a taste of randonee back country skiing at Bucks summit near Quincy. It was the first time I had the opportunity to try out my new gear I bought last year. Everything worked just great although there was limited snow.

The hill we skinned up. Made about 5 turns on the decent before we ran out of snow. All the gear worked great.

40 again

This time I used my new heart rate monitor to time myself at 35 minutes for the climb. Hit a maximum heart rate of 152. I haven't figured out how to get my average rate but I suspect it was around 140 bpm.

Sunday in Vacaville

Joined Robert and Wallace for a 30 mile jaunt around the hills of Vacaville starting in the town of Winters. Great ride mostly flat hardly any traffic. Lots of farm animals and green pastures. Shot a few foto's on the fly.

Old 40 again

Rode up old Highway to the top of Donner Pass again. Great workout! I didn't time myself but my goal is to be under 30 minutes by the end of summer. This time I was passed by some guy on a mountain bike. Shame on me! It's a 3 mile climb with 1100 foot elevation gain. Beautiful ride again today, no traffic, about 60 degrees, with a few thunder clouds. It's a fast ride down. For some reason I find myself riding the downhill a little more cautiously these days.

Self portrait at the top of the grade. Way too close but my arms are only so long.

Met Dave Hunter formerly fromm Northstar and Sue (who I had not met before) on the ride down. I turned around and rode back up with them.

Stopped at the Roundup Cafe in Sierravile to have a second cup.
