Looked at the weather report and decided that today might be the last nice day for biking for a while as there was snow/rain in the forecast. Started at my house and rode to rainbow lodge and back about 43 miles roundtrip. The forecast looked better tonight.
Me at Donner Lake. The lake looks really placid. I look kind of pudgy. There must be something in my jacket pocket.
The Seven resting against the wall at Rainbow Lodge. From the look of the sandbags on the wall I figure the Lodge owners are expecting a high water level on the South Fork of the Yuba River this fall/winter or spring.
View today from Sugar Bowl parking lot. Mt Lincoln on the left with a dusting of snow and Mt Disney on the right.
Closer view of Mt lincoln from same spot.
Nice ride with little traffic.
Self Portrait. I definitely look taller.

Live Oak Calif
Rode the Harley down to Live Oak Calif to see Jan and get out of the cold and wet here in Truckee on Saturday. Live Oak is a few miles north of Yuba City off of Hwy 99 a little more than 100 miles from here. It was cold and the skys were threatening but the roads were dry for the trip.

View of the Buttes at sunset.
Seems like these falls on the Feather River near Yuba City should have a name.

Carson City Kingsbury Grade and Vintage Plane
Saw this article in the Reno paper this morning (SeaPlane) Since I was going to ride to Carson City this morning to get the 1000 mile service done on the Harley I thought I would keep an eye out for the airplane on the trip. Didn't take any pictures on the ride down it was way too cold at 8:30AM and my hands nearly froze. Had lunch with Steve Jackson and his SO Colene while I was waiting for the motorcycle to be serviced. On the way back to Tahoe I rode through Genoa and over the Kingsbury Grade into South Shore.

Cave Rock
Had heated handgrips put on at the dealer. Much warmer on the ride home.
Stopped at the Truckee Airport to see if the flying boat was there by chance.
Turned out it was there and they were just starting the engines so I got to see it take off. Pretty cool!

Reno's Truckee River Trail
Biked along the Truckee River bikepath in Reno today from Mayberry Park to Sparks a flat ride of about 23 miles roundtrip. I shot these Photo's on today's ride along the path. Saw lots of fall colors and a few homeless folks along the way.

Five Lakes Trail
Sam and I hiked the 5 lakes trail today (Five Lakes Hike) It was about a 5 1/2 mile walk round trip.
This is the trailhead off of Alpine Meadows Road.
View on the way up. The poles of the new White Wolf ski lift can be seen on the ridgeline in the background of the photo. (White Wolf)
Standing under the chairline looking towards the top of Squaw Valley's KT22. This lift when completed will serve a private real estate development.
View off to the left of the trail. Alpine Meadows ski area can be seen in the background.
Sam & I reach a shaded portion of the trail near the top. It was a surprisingly warm day.
San dives into Five Lakes to retrieve a stick.
Sam and me on the way down.
This view of the Truckee River off of West River Street in Truckee caught my eye on the drive home.

Quincy visit
Rode over to Quincy yesterday to visit George Bishop and Judy Buck. I saw Judy's house and they took me to lunch. I stopped by the Cabin on the way home to put antifreeze in the washer. I ran out the other day when I was closing up for the winter.

Trip to Carson City
Rode over to the Carson City Harley Davidson store to buy and install some new motorcycle parts. The new items include saddlebags, new slip on mufflers and stage 1 software upgrade. It was a cold ride over in the morning. Maybe I should get the heated hand grips?

The Triangle
Rode the 43 mile "Triangle" today from my house to Squaw Valley (Starbucks) to Tahoe City and then back to Truckee (my house) over Brockway Summit.
Squaw home of the 1960 Winter Olympics
View of the village at Squaw showing the building developments by Intrawest. KT 22 is the mountain on the left of the picture.
Had a piece of Pizza here at the "Front St Station Pizza Co" on the river in Tahoe City. View of Fanny Bridge in background. Funny this place has been here for a year and I never noticed it before in spite of the fact that I've ridden by it scads of times. I will stop here more often.
Looking across the lake towards South Shore. You can see the cuts for Heavanly Valley ski runs.
Me at Brockway Summit.
Back home the leaves are turning on the Aspens at the entrance to Kleckner Ct.
